So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I'm going to tear down that wall you built with cheap, crappy mortar and knock it flat to the ground. When it crashes down, everyone will see how weak your foundation really was, and you'll be crushed underneath it. Then you'll finally understand that I am the LORD.
God's calling out the fake foundations in your life, when they crumble, you'll know he's real.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Ezekiel, the prophet was speaking to the exiled Israelites in Babylon around the 6th century BC, warning them about false prophets who were deceiving the people with misleading visions and promises of peace amid impending judgment. These false prophets were likened to builders using untempered mortar, weak and unstable material, to construct a wall, symbolizing their unreliable prophecies that would not withstand God's scrutiny. God declares through Ezekiel that He will demolish this metaphorical wall, exposing its faulty foundation and bringing destruction to demonstrate His ultimate authority.
