Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
So here's what the Lord God is saying: Those people you've killed and left in the city? They're like meat in a pot, and this city is the cooking pot. But I'm going to pull you out of it.
God sees the violence you've caused and he's about to remove you from the situation entirely.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet during the Babylonian exile around the 6th century BC, delivering messages from God to the exiled Jews and those still in Jerusalem about divine judgment for their idolatry and social injustices. In this vision, God uses the metaphor of Jerusalem as a caldron boiling with the slain people as the flesh, indicating that the city would not protect its inhabitants from God's punishment as they falsely believed. However, God promises to rescue the faithful from this midst of judgment, foreshadowing His mercy amid wrath.
