And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
I have actually raised you up for this very reason: to show my power through you, and so that my name will be proclaimed throughout the entire earth.
God is telling Pharaoh that He allowed him to remain in power specifically to demonstrate God's mighty power to the whole world.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Exodus, God is delivering the Israelites from slavery in Egypt through His servant Moses, as Pharaoh, the Egyptian king, stubbornly refuses to let them go, resulting in a series of devastating plagues. God speaks these words to Pharaoh during the plagues to explain that He has allowed Pharaoh to rise to power for a specific purpose: to demonstrate His unmatched power and make His name known across the earth. This highlights God's sovereignty over world leaders and events in the ancient Near East, where powerful rulers like Pharaoh were seen as divine figures.
