And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
The LORD said to Moses, 'When you go back to Egypt, make sure you perform all the miraculous signs I have given you the power to do in front of Pharaoh. But I will make his heart stubborn, so he won't let the people go.'
God is telling Moses to demonstrate His miraculous power to Pharaoh, but warns that He will make Pharaoh's heart stubborn so he won't release the Israelites immediately.
📚 Historical Context
This occurs as Moses prepares to return to Egypt after his encounter with God at the burning bush. The Israelites had been enslaved in Egypt for approximately 400 years, and God was beginning His plan to deliver them through Moses. The 'wonders' refer to the miraculous signs God had already shown Moses, like his staff turning into a snake.
