Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.
You must also make a bronze basin with a bronze stand for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and fill it with water.
God is instructing Moses to create a bronze washing basin that priests would use to clean themselves before approaching Him in worship.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Exodus, God was giving Moses detailed instructions for building the Tabernacle, a portable sanctuary that served as the center of worship for the Israelites during their wilderness journey after leaving Egypt. The brass laver, a large basin for washing, was specifically commanded to ensure the priests maintained ritual purity by cleansing their hands and feet before approaching the altar or entering the holy areas. This emphasized God's holiness and the need for separation from impurity in their sacred duties.
