📚 Historical Context
In the book of Exodus, God is giving detailed instructions to Moses on Mount Sinai for building the Tabernacle, a portable sanctuary that would allow God's presence to dwell among the Israelites as they journeyed through the wilderness. The Ark of the Covenant was a sacred chest meant to house the tablets of the Ten Commandments, referred to as the testimony, symbolizing God's covenant and laws for His people. The mercy seat, placed on top of the Ark, served as a lid and a place where God would meet with the high priest, representing divine mercy and atonement.
