And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.
And the LORD made the Egyptians look favorably on the Israelites. Also, Moses had become highly respected throughout Egypt - both Pharaoh's officials and the Egyptian people regarded him as a great man.
God caused the Egyptians to respect and favor the Israelites, and Moses had gained great honor and influence throughout Egypt.
📚 Historical Context
This verse occurs just before the final plague (death of the firstborn) that would convince Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. After witnessing nine devastating plagues, the Egyptian people had come to recognize Moses' power and authority as God's representative. The Egyptians' favorable attitude toward the Israelites would soon become important when the Israelites would ask for gold, silver, and clothing before their departure.
