Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
Therefore, if you listen to these laws and carefully obey them, the LORD your God will keep His covenant with you and show you the faithful love He promised to your ancestors.
God is promising that if His people obey His commands, He will remain faithful to the covenant and show them the same loyal love He promised their forefathers.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses is addressing the Israelites as they prepare to enter the Promised Land after their exodus from Egypt, reminding them of the covenant God established with their ancestors like Abraham. This verse highlights the conditional promises of God, where obedience to His laws would result in blessings and the fulfillment of His mercy. It reflects the broader biblical narrative of God's faithfulness to Israel as they faced the challenges of settling in a new land.
