From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:
From Aroer, which sits on the edge of the Arnon River, and from the city by that river, all the way to Gilead, there wasn't a single city too strong for us to defeat. The LORD our God handed every one of them over to us.
The writer is celebrating how God gave Israel victory over every enemy city they faced, no matter how strong those cities seemed.
📚 Historical Context
Moses is recounting Israel's military victories east of the Jordan River as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. The Arnon River marked the border of Moab, and this area included the kingdoms of Sihon and Og that Israel had recently conquered. These victories demonstrated God's faithfulness to His promises and gave the Israelites confidence for the battles ahead in Canaan.
