That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
So that you and your children may live long lives in the land that the LORD promised to give your ancestors—lives that last as long as the heavens are above the earth.
God is promising that obedience to His commands will result in long, blessed lives for you and your descendants in the promised land.
📚 Historical Context
Moses was speaking to the Israelites just before they entered the Promised Land after 40 years in the wilderness. He was reminding them that their continued prosperity and longevity in this new land depended on their faithfulness to God's laws. The 'land which the LORD sware unto your fathers' refers to God's covenant promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob centuries earlier.
