And the people who listen to these false prophets will be thrown out dead in the streets of Jerusalem because of hunger and war. No one will be left to bury them - not them, their wives, their sons, or their daughters. I will bring the consequences of their evil actions back on them.

They literally made their hearts like diamond — the hardest stone you can find — so they wouldn't have to listen to God's law or hear what he was saying through his prophets. Because of that stubborn refusal to listen, God's anger came down hard on them.
