And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
The king ordered his men to bring Daniel's accusers to the lion's den, and not just them, but their families too. The moment they were thrown in, the lions completely destroyed them before they even hit the ground.
What goes around comes around, and sometimes it comes back harder than you threw it.
📚 Historical Context
In the biblical narrative of Daniel chapter 6, the Jewish exile Daniel had risen to a high position in the Persian court under King Darius, which provoked jealousy among other officials. These rivals tricked the king into issuing a decree banning prayer to any god except him, leading to Daniel's arrest and placement in a lions' den for his faithfulness to God. When Daniel was miraculously spared, the king responded by executing the accusers and their families in the same den, illustrating divine justice and the consequences of deceit.
