And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
During the time of those earthly kings, the God of heaven is going to establish his own kingdom that will literally never fall apart. This kingdom won't get handed off to someone else or conquered by another nation. Instead, it's going to completely demolish all those other kingdoms and stand forever.
God's kingdom isn't temporary like human governments, it's the one that outlasts everything else.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Daniel, the prophet interprets King Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a massive statue representing successive world empires, with the head of gold symbolizing Babylon and the other parts depicting kingdoms that follow. This verse specifically prophesies that during the era of these empires, God will establish an everlasting kingdom that will destroy them all and endure forever, highlighting God's ultimate sovereignty over human history. Historically, this vision occurs during the Babylonian exile, when Daniel served in the royal court and provided divine insight amid political turmoil.
