And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
This king is going to do whatever he wants and act like he's bigger than every god out there. He'll even talk trash about the God above all gods and somehow keep winning, but only until God's anger runs its course. What's meant to happen will happen, no matter what.
Even when someone seems untouchable, God's timeline is still the one that matters.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Daniel, chapter 11 describes a series of prophetic visions about the succession of empires and conflicts, particularly involving the Persian and Greek kingdoms that affected the Jewish people. This verse specifically refers to a self-exalting king, traditionally seen as Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who arrogantly opposed God and persecuted the Jews during the second century B.C., leading to events that fulfilled divine prophecy. His reign of terror highlighted God's ultimate control over history, as the oppression continued until God's determined judgment was complete.
