Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
So Paul took those guys with him, and the next day he went through the purification process alongside them. He headed into the temple to officially mark that their purification period was complete, they just had to wait until the right offering was made for each of them.
Paul showed up for his friends by walking through their religious ceremony with them, even when it wasn't required for him.
📚 Historical Context
In the first century AD, during Paul's third missionary journey, he arrived in Jerusalem and faced accusations from Jewish believers that he was teaching against the Law of Moses. To address these concerns and promote unity, James suggested that Paul join four men in completing a Nazirite vow, which involved purification rituals in the temple. This act demonstrated Paul's respect for Jewish customs while affirming his commitment to the gospel, set against the backdrop of a tense period where tensions between Jewish and Gentile Christians were high.
