Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
So Peter was locked up in prison, but the whole church was praying for him around the clock, like, they literally wouldn't stop asking God to help him.
When your friend is in trouble, you don't just pray once, you keep going until something changes.
📚 Historical Context
In the early days of the Christian church, King Herod Agrippa I was intensifying persecution against believers to gain favor with Jewish leaders, having just executed the apostle James and arrested Peter during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Peter was held under heavy guard in prison, likely facing a similar fate, as this occurred in Jerusalem amid growing opposition to the growing Jesus movement. The church, in response, gathered to pray earnestly and continuously for Peter's safety and release.
