Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
So if God gave them the exact same gift he gave us when we believed in Jesus Christ, who am I to stand in God's way?
When God's moving, sometimes the best thing you can do is get out of the way.
📚 Historical Context
In the early days of the Christian church, Jewish believers were debating whether Gentiles could fully participate in the faith without adhering to Jewish customs and laws. Peter, who had received a vision from God instructing him not to call any person impure or unclean, went to the house of Cornelius, a Roman centurion, and preached the gospel. When the Holy Spirit fell upon Cornelius and his household in the same way it had on the Jewish believers, Peter recognized that he had no authority to oppose God's clear inclusion of all people.
