Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:
However, none of the money that was brought into the LORD's temple was used to make silver bowls, wick trimmers, basins, trumpets, or any gold or silver items for the temple.
This verse explains that the money collected for the temple was not spent on making new ceremonial objects or decorative items.
📚 Historical Context
In the time of King Joash of Judah, the temple in Jerusalem had fallen into disrepair due to years of neglect and conflict. Joash, guided by the priest Jehoiada, directed that funds from temple offerings be used strictly for essential repairs, avoiding expenditures on luxury items like gold or silver vessels. This approach highlighted a commitment to restoring functionality over personal or ornamental gains.
