Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
Then Hezekiah responded and said, 'Now that you have dedicated yourselves to the LORD, come forward and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the LORD's temple.' So the people brought sacrifices and thank offerings, and everyone who felt moved in their heart also brought burnt offerings.
King Hezekiah invited the people to bring offerings to God's temple after they had dedicated themselves to Him, and the people responded with generous hearts.
📚 Historical Context
In the 8th century BC, King Hezekiah of Judah led a major religious reform to restore true worship of God after his father Ahaz had allowed idolatry and neglected the Temple. Hezekiah reopened and cleansed the Temple in Jerusalem, calling the people to consecrate themselves and participate in renewed sacrifices. This verse captures the enthusiastic response of the people, who brought offerings willingly as part of this national revival.
