And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the LORD, which he spake to Elijah.
When he arrived in Samaria, he killed everyone who was left from Ahab's family in Samaria, until he had completely wiped them out, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah.
This verse shows Jehu carrying out God's judgment by completely destroying Ahab's family line, exactly as God had promised through the prophet Elijah.
📚 Historical Context
In the divided kingdom of Israel, King Ahab and his family had led the nation into rampant idolatry and moral corruption, provoking God's wrath through their worship of Baal. God had previously declared through the prophet Elijah that Ahab's entire household would be utterly destroyed as punishment for their sins. Jehu, anointed by a prophet, carried out this divine judgment by eliminating Ahab's remaining descendants in Samaria, fulfilling the prophecy as recorded in the Books of Kings.
