📚 Historical Context
During the reign of King Hezekiah in ancient Judah, around the 8th century BC, the nation was undergoing major religious reforms to cleanse the temple and restore faithful worship after years of idolatry under previous kings. This verse details the administrative process of registering Levites and priests, including males from three years old and upward, to ensure they received their daily portions for temple service based on their assigned duties and rotations. This organization reflected Hezekiah's commitment to supporting the priesthood and maintaining the proper functioning of the temple as a center of worship.
