And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.
Azariah, the chief priest from Zadok's family, answered him and said, 'Ever since the people started bringing their offerings to the Lord's house, we have had enough to eat and plenty left over. The Lord has blessed his people, and what remains is this huge supply.'
The chief priest is telling King Hezekiah that God has blessed the people so abundantly through their faithful giving that the priests have more than enough food and supplies.
📚 Historical Context
During the reign of King Hezekiah, Judah was experiencing a revival of true worship after years of idolatry and neglect under previous kings. The people had begun bringing their offerings to the Temple as part of Hezekiah's reforms, which led to an overflow of resources for the priests and the community. This abundance was seen as a direct result of God's favor on their renewed obedience.
