In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.
On that day I will carry out everything I have said about Eli's family. When I start to act, I will see it through to completion.
God is telling Samuel that He will fulfill all His warnings about judgment on Eli's family, and when He begins this judgment, He will complete it fully.
📚 Historical Context
In the biblical narrative, Eli served as the high priest in Israel during a time when his sons were corrupt and abused their priestly duties, leading to moral and spiritual decline. God had previously warned Eli through a prophet that severe judgment would come upon his household for failing to discipline his sons and honor God properly. This verse in 1 Samuel 3 records God's direct message to the young Samuel, affirming that the promised judgment against Eli's family would be fully carried out.
