For it shall be, that on the day thou goest out, and passest over the brook Kidron, thou shalt know for certain that thou shalt surely die: thy blood shall be upon thine own head.
The moment you leave Jerusalem and cross the Kidron stream, you can be absolutely certain that you will die. Your death will be your own fault.
King Solomon is giving a final warning that crossing a specific boundary will result in certain death, and the person will be responsible for their own fate.
📚 Historical Context
This is part of Solomon's judgment on Shimei, who had cursed King David during Absalom's rebellion. Solomon confined Shimei to Jerusalem as punishment, using the Kidron brook as a clear boundary line. The Kidron Valley ran along the eastern edge of Jerusalem and served as a natural marker that would be impossible to cross accidentally.
