Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
Then King David spoke to the entire assembly, saying, 'My son Solomon, whom God has specially chosen, is still young and inexperienced, and the work ahead is enormous. Remember, this palace we're building isn't for any human being, it's for the LORD God.'
King David is explaining to his people that his young son Solomon has been chosen by God for the massive task of building God's temple, not just any ordinary building.
📚 Historical Context
In the historical narrative of 1 Chronicles, King David is addressing the people of Israel toward the end of his reign, as he prepares for the transition of leadership to his son Solomon. David emphasizes that Solomon, though young and inexperienced, has been divinely chosen by God to build the temple, a project David himself was forbidden to undertake due to his involvement in wars. This highlights the importance of God's sovereignty in selecting leaders and the sacred purpose of constructing a house for divine worship rather than human achievement.
