Translated by Verse Made Simple Editorial
KJV ORIGINAL
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

✦ MADE SIMPLE

When that day comes, his feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives, you know, the one right outside Jerusalem to the east. And when he does, that whole mountain is going to split right down the middle, east to west, creating this massive valley. Half the mountain will shift north, half will go south.

⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

When God shows up, even mountains move out of the way.

📚 Historical Context

Zechariah was a prophet who lived around 520 BC, during the time when the Jewish people had returned from exile in Babylon and were rebuilding their nation and the Temple. In this verse, he describes a prophetic vision of the Day of the Lord, where God dramatically intervenes by splitting the Mount of Olives, symbolizing divine judgment and restoration for Jerusalem. This fits into the broader biblical narrative of God's promises to His people, encouraging them to remain faithful amid uncertainty.
