✦ MADE SIMPLE

But if the wronged person has no relative to receive the payment for the wrong that was done, then the payment should be given to the LORD by giving it to the priest. This is in addition to the ram that must be sacrificed to make things right with God.

⚡ THE BOTTOM LINE

This verse explains that when someone wrongs another person who has no family to receive compensation, the payment should go to God through the priest, along with a sacrifice for forgiveness.

📚 Historical Context

This verse is part of God's detailed laws given to Israel during their wilderness journey. In ancient Israel, when someone was wronged, compensation was typically paid to the victim or their nearest relative. However, if the wronged person died and had no surviving relatives, there needed to be a system for handling the restitution. The priesthood served as God's representatives to receive such payments on behalf of the LORD.
