And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.
The next morning, Balaam got up and told Balak's officials, 'Go back to your own country, because the LORD will not allow me to come with you.'
Balaam is telling the messengers that God has refused to let him go curse Israel, so they need to return home without him.
📚 Historical Context
Balak, king of Moab, had sent princes to hire Balaam, a renowned prophet, to curse the Israelites who were camped near his territory. The night before, God had appeared to Balaam in a dream and explicitly told him not to go with these men because the Israelites were blessed. This was during Israel's wilderness journey toward the Promised Land, and surrounding nations were fearful of their growing power.
