Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Bring all your tithes to the storehouse so there will be food in my house, and test me in this, says the LORD of hosts. See if I won't open the windows of heaven and pour out such a blessing on you that you won't have room to contain it all.
God is challenging His people to faithfully give their tithes and promises to bless them so abundantly in return that they won't be able to contain all the blessings.
📚 Historical Context
Malachi was speaking to the Israelites who had returned from exile in Babylon around 450 BC. The people had become neglectful in their worship and were withholding their tithes (10% of their income) from the temple, which left the Levites (priests) without proper support and the temple lacking resources for sacrifices and daily operations.
