Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
He must not leave the sanctuary or make God's sanctuary unholy, because the crown of his God's anointing oil is on him. I am the LORD.
God is telling the high priest that he must stay in the sanctuary and keep it holy because he has been specially consecrated with anointing oil.
📚 Historical Context
This command was given to the high priest of Israel, who was anointed with sacred oil as part of his consecration ceremony. The high priest had special responsibilities in the tabernacle (and later the temple) and was required to maintain a higher standard of holiness than regular priests. The anointing oil symbolized God's selection and empowerment for this sacred role.
