Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out.
So you must carefully follow all my laws and rules, and obey them completely, so that the land where I'm bringing you to live won't vomit you out.
God is telling the Israelites that they must obey all His laws so they can stay in the Promised Land—disobedience will cause the land itself to reject them.
📚 Historical Context
This verse comes at the end of a section where God lists various moral and ceremonial laws for the Israelites as they prepare to enter the Promised Land. The Canaanites who previously lived there had been expelled because of their detestable practices, and God is warning Israel that the same fate awaits them if they don't follow His commands. The vivid imagery of the land 'spewing out' its inhabitants reflects the ancient understanding that moral corruption defiles the very land itself.
