And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons’ due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.
You and your sons and daughters may eat the breast meat that was waved and the shoulder meat that was lifted up as an offering, but you must eat them in a ceremonially clean place. These portions belong to you and your sons as your rightful share from the peace offerings that the Israelites bring.
God is telling the priests that certain parts of the peace offerings—the breast and shoulder meat—belong to them and their families as their portion for serving Him.
📚 Historical Context
This instruction was given to Aaron and his surviving sons after two of Aaron's sons died for offering unauthorized fire before the Lord. God was establishing the proper portions that priests could receive from various sacrifices as their means of support. The peace offerings were voluntary sacrifices expressing gratitude and fellowship with God, and God designated specific portions for the priests' families.
