If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
If you abandon the LORD and worship foreign gods, then He will turn against you and bring harm upon you, and He will destroy you, even after He has been good to you.
Joshua is warning that if God's people abandon Him for other gods, He will withdraw His protection and blessings, even bringing judgment upon them.
