And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:
And he said to them, 'You have kept everything that Moses, the Lord's servant, commanded you, and you have obeyed everything I commanded you.'
Joshua is praising the tribes for faithfully following both Moses' commands and his own leadership throughout their military campaigns.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Joshua, after the Israelites had conquered the Promised Land, Joshua addressed the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh who lived on the east side of the Jordan River. These tribes had promised to help the other tribes conquer the land west of the Jordan, as instructed by Moses, and they faithfully fulfilled that commitment. Joshua is now praising them for their obedience to both Moses's commands and his own leadership.
