📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Joshua, after the Israelites conquered the Promised Land, the tribes were allotted their territories as part of God's fulfillment of His covenant. The Levites, including the Kohathites, a subgroup descended from Levi, were not given a tribal inheritance because they were dedicated to priestly duties, so they received specific cities from other tribes for their needs. This allocation from the tribe of Ephraim highlights how God ensured the Levites were integrated among the people to provide spiritual guidance and service throughout the land.
