And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
Half of Gilead, along with Ashtaroth and Edrei (cities that belonged to King Og's kingdom in Bashan), were given to the descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh. This inheritance went to half of Machir's descendants, distributed among their family groups.
This verse describes how God fulfilled His promise by giving specific territories to half of Manasseh's tribe through Machir's family line.

Machir was a prominent grandson of Joseph through Manasseh, and his descendants were known as fierce warriors. The territories mentioned (Gilead, Ashtaroth, and Edrei) were east of the Jordan River, previously ruled by the giant king Og of Bashan, whom Moses had defeated earlier.
