And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Eight days later, the disciples were hanging out inside again, and this time Thomas was with them. Even though the doors were locked, Jesus just showed up right in the middle of the room and said, 'Peace be with you.'
Jesus doesn't let locked doors stop him from showing up for his people.
📚 Historical Context
This verse occurs eight days after Jesus' resurrection in Jerusalem, where the disciples were hiding behind locked doors due to fear of the Jewish authorities who had orchestrated His crucifixion. Thomas, who had missed Jesus' earlier appearance and expressed doubt about the resurrection, was now present with the group, highlighting the ongoing uncertainty among the followers. Jesus' sudden entry into the locked room underscores the miraculous nature of His resurrected body, as described in the Gospel of John to affirm His victory over death.
