But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
But if someone wants to boast about something, let them boast about this: that they understand and truly know me—that I am the LORD who shows faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth. These are the things that bring me joy, says the LORD.
God is saying that the only thing truly worth bragging about is knowing Him personally and understanding His character of love, justice, and righteousness.
📚 Historical Context
Jeremiah spoke these words during a time when Judah was facing judgment for their pride and rebellion against God. The people were boasting in their wealth, strength, and wisdom rather than in their relationship with the LORD. This message came as God was preparing to discipline His people through exile, reminding them of what truly matters.
