Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
Come at her from every direction, break into her warehouses and stockpiles. Pile everything up and completely destroy it all, leave absolutely nothing behind.
When God decides judgment time is over, it's really over.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Jeremiah, written during the 6th century BC, the prophet is delivering God's message of judgment against Babylon for their conquest and exile of Judah, as they had destroyed the Temple and oppressed God's people. This verse is part of a larger oracle calling for Babylon's total destruction, reflecting God's use of other nations as instruments of retribution for their arrogance and idolatry. Historically, this prophecy was fulfilled when the Persian Empire conquered Babylon in 539 BC, marking the end of their dominance.
