And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.
The destroyer is coming for every single city, not one will get away. The valleys and plains will all be wiped out, exactly like God said would happen.
When God says judgment is coming, nowhere is safe to hide.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is part of Jeremiah's prophecy against Moab, an ancient kingdom east of the Dead Sea that often clashed with Israel and was known for its pride and idolatry. During Jeremiah's time in the 6th century BC, the Babylonian empire was rising and conquering nations as God's instrument of judgment, fulfilling warnings about unrepentant societies. The "spoiler" refers to these invaders who would devastate Moab's cities, leaving no area untouched as a direct result of divine decree.
