📚 Historical Context
In the historical context of Jeremiah, this verse occurs after the Babylonian conquest of Judah in 586 BC, when a remnant of survivors led by Johanan son of Kareah were seeking guidance amid political turmoil and the threat of further invasion. Jeremiah, as God's prophet, was called to address the military leaders and all the people, from the highest ranks to the ordinary citizens, to ensure a unified response to divine instruction. This gathering highlights the communal need for spiritual direction during times of crisis in ancient Judah.
