Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD.
This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, 'Won't you learn your lesson and listen to what I'm saying?' declares the LORD.
God is asking His people why they refuse to learn from examples and listen to His voice when He speaks to them.
📚 Historical Context
This verse comes after God used the faithful Rechabites (a nomadic clan who strictly obeyed their ancestor's commands) as an object lesson to show Judah's disobedience. While the Rechabites honored their human father's instructions for generations, God's people repeatedly ignored their heavenly Father's commands. This was spoken during the final years before Jerusalem's destruction by Babylon around 586 BC.
