And I will set thy bounds from the Red sea even unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river: for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and thou shalt drive them out before thee.
I will set your territory's boundaries from the Red Sea all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give you victory over the people living in the land, and you will drive them out ahead of you.
God is promising the Israelites that He will give them a large territory and help them defeat the people currently living there.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is part of God's covenant promises to Moses and the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land after their exodus from Egypt. The boundaries described represent the maximum extent of what would later become the united kingdom under David and Solomon. At this time, the Israelites were still wandering in the wilderness, but God was outlining the scope of the land He intended to give them.
