⚡ EN RESUMEN

This verse shows Mordecai courageously refusing to bow down to Haman despite the king's command, setting up the central conflict of the story.

📚 Historical Context

This takes place during the Persian Empire when King Xerxes had promoted Haman to be his highest official. In ancient Persian culture, bowing to high officials was expected protocol. Mordecai, as a Jewish exile, likely refused because bowing to Haman would have violated his faith in God, as Jews were commanded to worship God alone.
