And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
In the Book of Numbers, God was organizing the Israelites for their journey through the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt, assigning specific duties to maintain order and holiness among the tribes. The Levites were chosen as the tribe responsible for the tabernacle, a portable sanctuary symbolizing God's presence, to handle its assembly and disassembly while protecting it from unauthorized access. This command underscored the sacredness of the tabernacle and the severe consequences for violating God's instructions, reflecting the covenant relationship between God and His people.
