This verse comes during the dedication of the tabernacle when the twelve tribal leaders of Israel brought wagons and oxen as offerings. The Levites were the tribe set apart by God to care for and transport the tabernacle and its furnishings as the Israelites traveled through the wilderness. Different groups of Levites had different responsibilities - some carried the holy furniture, others the curtains and coverings.
