Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead:
In the book of Numbers, the Israelites were preparing to enter the Promised Land after years of wandering in the wilderness. The tribes of Reuben and Gad saw that the land of Gilead, east of the Jordan River, was ideal for their livestock and requested to settle there instead of crossing over. They promised Moses that their families, including women and children, along with their possessions, would stay in Gilead while their fighting men helped conquer the rest of Canaan.
