This movement occurred during Israel's 40-year wilderness wandering between Egypt and the Promised Land, around 1440-1400 BC. Hazeroth was where Miriam had been healed of leprosy after she and Aaron challenged Moses' leadership. The wilderness of Paran was a large desert region in the Sinai Peninsula where the Israelites would spend significant time, and from where they would later send spies into the Promised Land.
