For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
In the book of Nehemiah, the Jewish people had returned from exile in Babylon and were working to rebuild Jerusalem's walls and restore their religious practices. This verse is part of a covenant agreement where the community pledged financial support for the temple's ongoing sacrifices and offerings, which were crucial for maintaining their worship and seeking atonement as outlined in the Mosaic Law. These commitments reflected their renewed dedication to God's commands in a time of national rebuilding.
