Ibzan was one of the minor judges of Israel who ruled for seven years during the period between Joshua's conquest and the establishment of the monarchy. He was known for having thirty sons and thirty daughters, and for arranging marriages that strengthened tribal relationships. Bethlehem, where he was buried, was an important town in Judah that would later become famous as King David's birthplace and Jesus' birthplace.
